La news est tombée la nuit dernière. Darko Milicic serait à priori sur le départ pour raisons familiales, ce qui libérerait un spot dans le roster.
Qui s'en plaindra sportivement ? Sans doute personne.
Humainement, on soulignera la bonne attitude de Darko au sein de l'équipe et on ne peut que lui souhaiter de meilleurs jours pour lui et sa famille.

Darko Milicic considering leaving team

Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Darko is considering leaving the team for the season to tend to family affairs at home.
Darko Milicic is leaning toward leaving the Boston Celtics for season and returning to Europe to be with ill mother, league sources tell Y!

He missed last night's game due to a "family matter" and Woj has the details. He's been a soldier for the last two months--saying all the right things and accepting his role--and it would be inappropriate to even suggest that he's bailing on the team. We wish him and his family the best in this tough time.

Doc on Darko: "likely...done"

Nothing definitive yet, but Doc met with the press after practice this afternoon and reiterated his comments from his radio interview this morning.
Doc said it's likely Darko is done with the Celtics.

Doc noted that once family issues come into play, it can be difficult to focus on basketball. The issues were hurting Darko's mindset.

Neither the Celtics or Darko have said anything officially, but it sounds like Milicic will head back to Europe to be with his family. Good luck to you and yours, big guy.
For what it's worth, if this is the last time Darko Milicic plays in the NBA, I just want to say that as a Celtics fan, he was a model citizen and a selfless team player. On so many of his stops around the league, he might have been deservedly labeled as a bust because of circumstance and based on his results on the floor but in Boston, he said the right things and did the right things. He accepted his role and I still think he could have and would have contributed down the road. For now, we wish him safe travels home, the best for his family, and if he ever wanted to come back next season, I think it would be great if Danny and Doc extended another invite to him. |
