Les reports du practice des Celtics sont plutôt encourageants. Doc a décidé de mettre l'accent sur la condition physique.
Pendant le weekend, Doc s'est également penché sur le travail avec la second unit et notamment sur le rôle de Dooling. Il semblerait qu'on se dirige vers un Bradley post 1 / Dooling post 2 pour permettre à ce dernier d'avoir un meilleur rendement scoring. Cette optique au début me faisait flipper, mais en fait si les systèmes sont optimisés pour Dooling, je ne vois pas trop de crainte à laisser Bradley avec le ballon (surtout qu'il prend en confiance et c'est déjà un énooorme cap avec ce joueur ^^). C'est bien sûr une optique à court terme puisque l'arrivée de Pietrus permettra certainement petit à petit de retrouver un Dooling backup de Rondo. Et d'avoir un duo Quis / Sasha pour suppléer les bench minutes du Captain.
En ce qui concerne Pietrus, Rivers n'a ni confirmé ni démenti, je pense qu'il attend de voir le jour j.

With Doc Rivers questioning their conditioning, the Celtics were run ragged at Monday's practice
When the curtains go up and reporters are able to view the final moments of Boston Celtics practice, the team is almost always engaged in 5-on-5 work to close out the session.
Not Monday.
The Celtics finished a spirited two-hour session by running no-dribble, three-man weaves up and down the court, players sprinting from one end to the other -- tagging a coach's hand -- then racing back in the opposite direction while being unable to put the ball on the ground.
Asked about the session, head coach Doc Rivers noted, "It was long and it was a ton of running. That was done on purpose."
It wasn't hard to read between the lines. Rivers isn't particularly thrilled with his team's conditioning and overall game shape, so he put them through a different sort of Boston Marathon.
As Rajon Rondo declared after the practice, "We got up and down a lot more than usual."
And the ball rack got less use than usual.
"You have to be in shape first," Rivers said. "We can have all the intensity you want, and I think some of our guys do, but then after three minutes, when your lungs hurt, you're no longer thinking about intensity. You're thinking about survival. 'How can I get through these next five minutes?' And you're not playing the same.
"I think some of our [struggles are] conditioning and we have to get in better shape. And some of it is we have to be a more physical team, and maybe that's conditioning as well." |

It is nice to know that fans outside of Boston see more than just the snarl and the swagger from Kevin Garnett. They know and respect the man for being larger than life because he never makes himself larger than the team.

Garnett makes you believe that the cliches are real. Trust me, when you do this enough, you can tell from inflection who means it and who's going through the motions. And some go through the motions with the press but believe it privately. But KG is one of the few in the league who talks the talk of the walk he walks. In a sport where so many players are steadfast in their struggle to be self-aware, to understand how much greater they can be if they let go of ego, who are always considering themselves and their image and brand first, Garnett is a rarity. He was made to do this. He was made for Boston.
He was made to be a Celtic.

No More Excuses

Here's a small collection of excuses that we (myself included) have given for the slow start the team has had this year.
We lost to the Knicks because of the refs.
We lost to the Heat because we didn't have Paul Pierce.
We lost to the Hornets because it was a trap game and the 2nd night of a back-to-back.
We looked bad for some stretches against bad teams because we couldn't take those teams too seriously.
We lost to the Pacers because we're still working some kinks out and mamma said there'd be days like that.
We haven't hit our stride because the team had little training camp and hasn't had much practice time and on and on and on.
Are some of the above comments technically true? Sure. Is it too early to count out a team like this? Absolutely.
On the other hand, can't most other teams in the league make many of the same excuses? Yes. Isn't it about time to stop making excuses and start getting wins against good teams? You betcha.
The Celtics had yesterday and today off and won't play again until Wednesday. They've had all the wake up calls they need and they're now in the middle of getting all the rest and practice that they could ask for. 8 of the next 11 games are at home.
Bottom line, if they can't get things rolling now, I'm not sure they ever will.
Does that mean I'm advocating "blowing it up?" Hold your trigger finger there gunslinger. I'll approach that topic someday soon, but here's my little preview. Why? What good would that do? At best you gain maybe a few spots in the draft and a half a season head start on something that's inevitable anyway. Don't be so eager to return to the tanking, mindless, horrible, rebuilding ways of days gone past. In short, don't get me started. Not now.
What we need is a good old fashioned win streak against some quality teams. That will make things fall into place nicely. Or if it doesn't happen, at least we'll have a little more clarity.
Just no more excuses. At some point this team is what it is and we'll see what we shall see in the next month or so. |

Ben c'est clair qu'a l'heure actuelle si un des membres du Big3 fait un non match c'est défaite au bout... Là ou avant seulement 2 suffisaient la plupart du temps. Bass est une arme supplémentaire (c'est un poil mieux que Big Baby niveau scoring) mais ca ne suffira pas... J'attends pas des miracles de Pietrus mais on sait jamais...
Sans ça, ça sera un trade qui interviendra et ça nous fera pas forcement plaisir selon les noms qu'il contiendra (soit on casse le Big3, soit Rondo, soit Bass). |

4 jours de practice histoire de travailler le playbook et les automatismes, ça va faire du bien au roster et compenser le circus du lockout !
Ce sera la saison la plus difficile à négocier de l'ère du BIG 3, c'est évident. Mais on sait qu'ils peuvent rebondir et puiser dans leurs ressources pour accrocher les playoffs.
A eux de montrer la bonne attitude aux role players et l'énergie montera d'un cran.
Hâte également de voir Pietrus intégrer la rotation, ça peut aussi changer dans le bon sens l'utilisation des systèmes et améliorer le roulement et la répartition des minutes. |

Pas vu le game et assez déçu du résultat, l'équipe était au repos le jour précédent et jouait @home... Ne pas réussir a se débarrasser d'un potentiel 6/7 ieme pour les P.O c'est mauvais signe. L'équipe a galéré au scoring et sans la prestation de choix de Ray Allen ca ressemble plus a grand chose...
Grosse pause avant de jouer une équipe qui nous faisait toujours galérer les années précédentes; mais vu leur état du moment c'est peut être jouable. |

Yep encore 4/5 ce soir.
Pour rien.
Et même constat pour Rondo, le nombre de passes excellentes qu'il fait est ahurissant. Mais pas grand monde au bout pour les convertir.
Mais bon, quand le leader n'est pas dans son assiette, les C's sont incapables d'envoyer la vapeur.
Le vrai point faible/fort cette saison qui fera pencher la balance ce sera Paul Pierce.
Next Game at home vs Dallas Mavericks, mercredi prochain, faudra pas se rater.

5ème block de JO.
Quand on va faire le bilan défensif par rapport a bilan offensif ce soir, ça va être du beau gâchis.
C'est vraiment couillon de faire autant d'efforts d'un côté du parquet pour ne rien concrétiser de l'autre.
C'est dans leur tête, vraiment.
