Turner score 14pts à 4/10, mais à coté de ça, il a été présent de partout niveau stat, 6 rebonds, 7 passes, 6 steals (!) et 1 contre. Et apparement, il commence à être plus à l'aise qu'avant dans le jeu sans ballon. Good stuff.
Sinon 4/20 pour Holiday et Brand, 5/24 pour les remplaçents dont 4/17 pour Williams et Nocioni.
Hawes était absent à cause d'une blessure au dos. Il est plutôt chanceux, ca lui a évité de se faire démonter par Lopez
A night after turning the ball over just nine times against the New Jersey Nets, the Sixers had their 10th giveaway by early in the second quarter and finished the game with 22. In fact, they had double-digit turnovers before they had double-digit points.
When it was mercifully over, Boston had whipped the Sixers to the tune of 93-65.
Boston limited the Sixers to five field goals (on 31 attempts) in building a 49-22 lead at the break. After that, it was pretty much what you'd expect in the second half of a preseason blowout.
"When they're on their game, they're the best defensive team in the NBA," Collins said of the Celtics. "That's a very experienced team and they do a nice job. Shaq is going to be a huge presence for them in there. They know what they want to do. There's no inefficiency on their team, there's no wasted energy."
Poor Sixers trainer Kevin Johnson is probably a bit hoarse today as it is his job to count down the shot clock when it gets below 5 seconds to warn the players on the court. It was a full-time job for Johnson last night as not only did the Sixers shoot poorly when they did take shots, many times they couldn't even get off shots. For the game, they shot 18-for-67 for 26.9 percent.
"I sort of expected this tonight. We didn't have our key guys," Collins said. "Right now, we're just so struggling with any type of offensive identity. As painful as it is to sit through a game like this, you just keep learning more and more about who you have and what you're going to have to do. That's what I'm doing right now."

"I'm far more optimistic about the Sixers than most; in fact I, expect them to make the playoffs. Before you petition ESPN to have me committed, allow me to explain. Two factors in particular have me bullish on Philly. First, Collins will make the team dramatically better on defense than it was a year ago, simply by adding a level of accountability and preparation that didn't exist previously.
Second, the Sixers have an underrated store of young talent and I suspect they're capable of fairly rapid improvement. Holiday, in particular, should make strong progress from a year ago, but Young (22), Hawes (22), Speights (23), Williams (24), Brackins (23) and even Iguodala (26) all are capable of taking their games up another notch or two.

Collins on Speights: "He has been so good. He so much wants to please. He has had a great summer. He’s so proud of how hard he’s worked and his body and how good of shape. He ran the mile yesterday in 6:23. I dare to mention there’s no way he could’ve made eight minutes last year.
"With Mo, everything with him is his conditioning. When he’s conditioned, his legs are strong. When his legs are strong, his offense is good. When his offense is good, it affects the other parts of his game. Last year, he tweaked his leg and he got heavy and out of shape. The guy can score in his sleep. I’m not worried about that. But, for us, he’s got to defend."
Collins on Nocioni: "He’s such a competitor. He’s going to be a guy coming off the bench that is going to give us toughness. He can shoot the 3. He’s going to be able to play multiple positions for us. I hope to be able to get 20 minutes out of him. At this stage of his career, I think that’s going to be where he’s at his best. He’s real physical. I hope he brings us a real edge."
J'imagine que ca va être difficile de lui donner plus de 10 minutes de jeu si Turner et LouWill sont dans un bon rythme. C'est vrai que le trade de Green lui ouvre quelques opportunités mais je crois pas qu'il puisse s'imposer autrement que dans le rôle du shooteur unidimentionel.
Ca reste à confirmer sur la durée vu qu'avec Collins, les rotations peuvent changer assez rapidement en principe.
Est ce que Jodie Meeks va avoir du temps de jeu cette saison ?
Le trade de Willie Green libère des minutes pour celui en qui apparement le staff croit pas mal.
En tous cas j'espère qu'il donnera du temps de jeu à Turner, beaucoup, quitte à ce qu'il fasse un peu de la merde mais bon, entre donner du temps de jeu à Turner et en donner à Williams c'est vite vu pour moi...
Collins' expansive thoughts on Turner: "His mind gets clouded. He gets so hard on himself that he gets frustrated. I’ve got to try to limit the amount of frustration that seeps in so that he can be who we know he can be. Today, I thought he was terrific in the drills. He spoke more than he had been.
"He won the mile run yesterday (in 5:04). I think that was huge. There was about 200 yards to go and he and Jrue were running neck and neck and Jrue tried to make a move on him and he won. It gave him a feeling of accomplishment.
"I don’t think people realize what a jump it is from college to this level. I just want him to do what he does well. He’s a facilitator right now. He’s a guy who loves to get other guys involved. That’s what I want him to be right now. As he goes along, I want him and Jrue and ’Dre and those guys to be able to play together, where all of a sudden he gets a little more of a scoring mentality.
"His tendency off the ball is he always wants to go too fast – he never lets the play materialize. When he can slow down and do that, then he will continue to get better. I want to take pressure off of him. You look at our opening two games – you’re looking at (shooting guards) Dwyane Wade and Joe Johnson. I know how hard he is on himself. When a guy scores a basket, he’ll be like, ‘What did I do wrong?’ Nothing – these guys are real good. Dwyane Wade can get 50. You have to learn in this business when somebody scores on you, maybe it had nothing to do with what you did wrong. It’s just they did something really, really good."
Collins on starting Iguodala and Young at the 2 and 3: "That was the first unit we threw out there today. I told the guys, 'Please don’t read much into that.' What’ll happen is in a couple days I’ll slide Jrue and 'Dre over and probably play them with Mo Speights. I just want to mix and match right now.
"I think Evan’s going to be very comfortable (as a backup point) with Lou Williams right now. I think that’s very important.
"In looking at our roster, if ’Dre is playing 3 right now as a starter, that puts Thad and Nocioni on the bench to start the game. They’re going to be two of my better players. I can’t have two of my better players on the bench to start the game. I just think it gives us a better chance to get started and to take advantage of our roster."

Une sensation de déja vu concernant Iggy, mais il est possible que Collins se rende compte qu'en 2, c'est loin d'être ça...
Par contre, Turner en backup à la mène, en attendant qu'il s'aguerrisse et qu'il soit plus confortable dans le jeu sans ballon me semble être une bonne idée. C'était dans le registre du "point forward" qu'il était plus à l'aise à Ohio State. Et du coup ça laisse entrevoir quelques combinaisons assez intéressantes comme Turner/Holiday/Iguodala ou Turner/Williams/Young voire Nocioni pour les remplaçants.
Iguodala from media day: "We've got a good coach in here. If we want him to stay around, we have to do what we need to do on the court."
Iguodala on the Sixers’ defensive deficiencies under Eddie Jordan: "I think we just didn’t have that emphasis on the defensive end. Last year, there was a lot of emphasis on the Princeton offense. It’s the Princeton offense — you’ve got to have Princeton minds. We’ve got great athletes, but they may not have the minds," he said, smiling.
Brand: "There's no blaming the coaches this year. We've got a great coach here. It's on us players to get a lot of victories."
Et pendant ce temps, la hype sur Jrue continue
Iguodala said he told Doug Collins and Ed Snider in meetings how good he thinks Holiday is and can be. "I said he'll be one of the top point guards in the league. In his prime, he'll be a top five point guard and he might go down as one of the greatest point guards, defensively. He's got kind of a Gary Payton presence, where he can pressure a guy full-court."
Holiday on the high praise from Collins and Iguodala: "When they say stuff like that, yes, it definitely does feel good. You have to stay humble -- you can't get too big-headed -- and keep on working."

Ce n'est pas une inconnue : quand il joue, il est très efficace.
Mais il ne joue jamais et ça sera probablement ainsi toute sa carrière. Malgré les blessures, on a pu voir qu'il est le joueur d'impact qu'on espérait mais son corps ne suit pas. Dommage.
Et c’est aussi un meneur intelligent qui sait s’adapter et être utile au poste 2, donc parfaitement complémentaire de Roy. Par contre à son âge il va falloir que vous accélériez. Le maillot des Blazers lui irait très bien en tout cas.

Si Melo se casse, Denver aura sans doute envie de reconstruire et Billups de se casser. Il peut être intéressé par un dernier challenge à Portland :
Billups-Roy-Batum-LMA-Camby, ça a de la gueule.
Pour l'avoir (13 millions), on peut filer Miller (7 millions) et Prz (7 millions), 2 contrats expirants.

The Sixers and Denver are talking about a potential trade that would bring Carmelo Anthony to Philadelphia and send Andre Iguodala to Denver, a Western Conference executive has confirmed to the Daily News.
The executive said Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri has spoken with Ed Stefanski.
Other players would need to be involved in the trade to match salaries.
The Sixers are not among the four teams that Anthony has said are his preferred destinations, with Chicago and New York at the top of his list.
The Sixers also would need to get Anthony to sign an extension. His contract expires after the season and he has not signed a 3-year extension offered by Denver.
Iguodala agreed to a 6-year, $80 million contract with the Sixers in August 2008.
Reports late last week had Anthony close to going to New Jersey in a complex four-team deal that also involved Utah and Charlotte. The New York Daily News is reporting that the Bobcats are holding up the deal, unwilling to include point guard D.J. Augustin. Charlotte was expecting Augustin would replace Raymond Felton, who left this offseason via free agency.
Indications are that the Nuggets would like a deal done before they begin training camp tomorrow.

Trade pas révolutionnaire mais à priori pas dégueu, surtout si le jeune s'avère très correct.
A priori Thorn est un fan absolu de Brackins il en avait fait sa grosse priorité avec le 27ème choix de draft des Nets mais le Thunder l'a sélectionné avant ...
Ne pas oublier qu'un an avant la draft, Brackins était considéré comme top 10 lock de la draft 2010 tout simplement ! La saison moyenne d'IS a eu raison de sa cote ...
Après, la seule chose que je peux dire c'est que Thorn a globaement un très bon feeling pour les potentiels dnc à voir ...

D'après mes sources c'est un tueur . Plus sérieusement, je le connais que de nom. Iowa State n'est pas une fac très diffusée. C'est visiblement un joueur qui a porté sa fac ce qui explique un peu ses stats j'imagine (17 / 9). Il devait avoir tout les ballons à mon avis (15 tirs par match). Y a sans doute pas grand chose d'extraordinaire à en attendre (enfin ca sera pas une star j'imagine).

Sinon, +1, pas de projet bien définit, pas non plus d'identité sur le terrain. Mais je crois que les ingrédients sont en place pour un peu de changement. Ca ne se traduira pas forcément dans les chiffres mais j'espère voir au moins une certaine discipline pour pas revivre la pagaille de la saison précédente...
